The Other Palace welcomes a musical that takes audiences back to America in the Second World War this April, providing a unique experience for those used to the more colourful shows in town.
Whisper House is a musical with a difference, taking on a mysterious tone as a ghost story unfolds onstage, with strange noises and an unsettling atmosphere. It appears alongside music from Duncan Sheik, who also pens lyrics with writer Kyle Sharrow, whilst Adam Lenson directs.
The story itself centres on the character of Christopher, who must deal with the unsettling noises coming through the walls of his new home, from strange music to whispers. It’s the latest twist in a tumultuous time as he has only just relocated following the disappearance of his father in the Second World War, leading him to live with his Aunt Lily and her housekeeper Yasuhiro.
He must decide whether this is his imagination or if something more sinister is at play as Whisper House draws in the audiences and refuses to let go.
Duncan Sheik is a well known name in musical theatre circles and this is why his name might look familiar to those interesting in witnessing Whisper House. He has been behind a wealth of US musical shows and also debuted a musical version of American Pyscho, which appeared here in London. His credits include Alice By Heart, The Nightingale and Spring Awakening, amongst others, whilst Whisper House was first seen in California in 2010.
Now it is the turn of London theatre audiences to get a look-in as Whisper House runs at The Other Palace from Tuesday 25th April 2017 (previews from Thursday 6th April 2017).
