In 2017 it is the turn of the Arts Theatre in London’s West End to witness this acclaimed touring production of Waiting For Godot, which has been seen by audiences all over the world. With Patrick O’Donnell and Nick Devlin in the lead roles and a talented team working behind the scenes, including director Peter Reid, this will once again show audiences why Samuel Beckett’s masterpiece is one of the best-regarded plays of the last century.
After all, this is a show that garners a lot of attention wherever it goes, whether it is audiences flocking to get in line or actors clamouring for the lead roles. This is why some big names have inhabited the parts of two tramps as they wait for the titular Godot to arrive, making it a must-see on every occasion. This time O’Donnell and Devlin play Gogo and Didi, with Paul Kealyn and Conor Donelyn as Pozzo and his slave Lucky, two characters they meet during their arduous wait.
The show has been unmissable since it was first seen in the early 1950s in France and in the decades since its premiere its reputation and popularity has followed it eagerly. As a result it is often regarded as one of Samuel Beckett’s best – something that this production will only cement when it opens its doors in the capital
Audiences can catch Waiting For Godot when it runs at the West End’s Arts Theatre in September 2017.
