In the West End one of the best things to catch on the stage is illusion and there’s plenty to choose from each year. Whether it is a returning Derren Brown or something new from the myriad other performers heading regularly, there is always something on offer, but this Christmas the Shaftesbury Theatre is set to welcome another stand-out show.
The Illusionists is not just another magic show. It has already been staged in countries around the world with great success and it now comes to London having been one of the most talked-about shows wherever it goes.
But considering the talent involved, this is no wonder. Conceived by Simon Painter, The Illusionists features James Raven as one of its stars and many who pick up theatre tickets will recognise him as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent. He appears alongside a wealth of other performers who have also proven themselves with audiences, with Andrew Basso hitting the stage as one of the biggest illusionists of Italy and Colin Cloud previously appearing on stages nationwide and on television screens.
And those are the only people heading the stage as they are also joined by the equally talented Ben Blaque and Kevin James.
The show itself is not only set to feature magic, it will also include some spectacular and memorable stunts, with plenty of humour making into the mix as well. The result is something truly special and something that has won over crowds around the world, with the West End now set in their sights.
After all, the West End has a proud tradition of spectacular stage shows going back hundreds of years, so it is the best place to see The Illusionists as they take the capital by storm. They follow in the footsteps of some of best known magicians and performers of centuries gone by, no doubt ensuring continued success in the future.
The Illusionists: Witness The Impossible – to give it its full title – is set to run at the West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre from Monday 16th November 2015 (with previews beginning on Saturday 14th November 2015). It will then continue over the Christmas season as it ends its run in the New Year on Sunday 3rd January 2015.
