Audiences have rejoiced in the continued presence of The Gruffalo in the West End, with the original show returning to the Lyric Theatre year after year, but from November 2017 it is time to find out what his daughter is up to as the sequel show The Gruffalo’s Child makes it to the capital.
Taking the original story and turning the events upside down, The Gruffalo’s Child once again provides us with a feared woodland beast who might or might-not exist, plus an animal scared in the forest. This time around, however, it is the Gruffalo’s Child who is afraid, having ventured amongst the trees and snow despite The Gruffalo’s warning of a Big Bad Mouse.
Audiences will know that they are in safe hands thanks to the success of The Gruffalo in the West End, a story that was also successfully adapted into an animated BBC film. The story book was one of many collaborations between author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler to get the West End stage treatment (others include Room On The Broom and Stick Man) and it has shown that when it comes to kid’s shows, there’s no beating their work.
With that in mind expect big things as this anticipated sequel makes its way to the capital and delights younger theatregoers all over again!
The Gruffalo’s Child runs at the West End’s Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 22nd November 2017.
