Pinter 5: The Room/Victoria Station/Family Voices Photos & Video
Harold Pinter, who died a decade ago in December 2008, is remembered and celebrated in this unique and unmissable season at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End. Pinter At The Pinter will see many of his one-act plays performed as part of bills featuring some acclaimed performers and talented teams working behind the scenes.
One of theses is this Triple Bill featuring The Room, Victoria Station and Family Voices, which appears during the season under the direction of Patrick Marber and starring Jane Horrocks, Emma Naomi and Nicolas Woodesen.
The Room has the honour of being Harold Pinter’s very first play, first performed in the late 1950s and focusing on the character of Rose and her interactions with numerous other people during the course of the day, from her husband Bert to the landlord and beyond, with xenophobia and dark humour at play.
Victoria Station follows the dispatcher of a taxi firm and a driver, whom he directs to Victoria Station for a fare, but the driver refuses. It dates back to the early 1980s, where it premiered with the National Theatre in London.
Family Voices, meanwhile, was originally broadcast as a radio play, also in the 1980s, and involves letters from a family read out, providing great insights into their feelings.
The cast includes some top names, with Jane Horrocks known around the country for films like Little Voice and Chicken Run, television shows like Absolutely Fabulous and stage productions like The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice in the 1990s and East Is East at the Trafalgar Studios in 2014.
The Room, Victoria Station and Family Voices appear as part of The Pinter At The Pinter Season at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Thursday 6th September 2018 to Saturday 23rd February 2019.
