The Pinter At The Pinter Season offers audiences an unbeatable opportunity to witness some of Harold Pinter’s one-act plays as part of a large collection of productions. Across double, triple and quadruple bills theatergoers can discover some real gems as top names and talented directors bring them to life.
The season appears on the ten-year anniversary of Pinter’s death in 2008 and takes place at the Harold Pinter Theatre, ensuring his legacy remains intact and audiences continue to find the power of his words.
This quadruple bill features performances of One For The Road, The New World Order, Mountain Language and Ashes To Ashes. All share a unifying theme, with interrogations, prisoners and tension in the mix.
One For The Road is set in ‘a room’, features a government worker committing acts of torture on someone and delves into the minds of those involved, creating something that has resonated with audiences since it was first staged in 1984.
The New World Order also deals with interrogation, this time with two men getting information from an insurgent tied to a chair and discussing the gruesome ways in which they intend to do so. It was first seen in London back in 1991.
Mountain Language hails from 1988 and also deals with those held captive, with civilians, prison officers and prisoners all a part of the plot.
Finally, Ashes To Ashes introduces us to the characters of Devlin and Rebecca as their discussions of the horrifying outside world threaten to turn their lives upside down.
The quadruple bill of One For The Road, The New World Order, Mountain Language and Ashes To Ashes appears as part of The Pinter At The Pinter Season, which runs at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Thursday 6th September 2018.
