Audiences are spoilt for choice when it comes to top West End shows featuring the best known acting talent around. Whether you want to witness one of the top names of musical theatre like Sheridan Smith or if you want to see some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, then the West End is the place to be.

After all, 2015 brings everything from American Buffalo with John Goodman to The Winter’s Tale with Dame Judi Dench, and it is clear that it remains a top draw for the world’s talent.

With that in mind it is no wonder audiences will be flocking to the Noël Coward Theatre from September 2015 as Nicole Kidman returns to the capital to star in the play Photograph 51, which focuses on Rosalind Franklin, the woman who played a big part in the discovery of DNA.

Penned by playwright Anna Ziegler, Photograph 51 takes audiences back to the 1950s where we meet Franklin on the brink of a major discovery – one that will unlock the mysteries of life – as the double helix of DNA is soon to be cracked. It is a race to the finish line for the scientists involved, particularly when it comes to recognition, and Photograph 51 will explore why Franklin’s name was initially absent from the history books.

Bringing this historical figure to the stage requires great talent and the producers of Photograph 51 in the West End have landed a massive coup with Nicole Kidman, who returns to the capital following her appearance in The Blue Room at the Donmar Warehouse in 1998. She has also appeared on the stage in Steel Magnolias at the York Theatre, Sydney, though she is best known for her work on the big screen, with well known credits like The Others, Eyes Wide Shut, The Hours, Moulin Rouge, Australia, Paddington and The Railway Man, to name but a few.

But with Photograph 51 she will work from a script by Anna Ziegler, whose previous plays have been staged around the world, with this show first appearing in the United States in 2008.

Photograph 5, under the direction of Michael Grandage, 1 appears on the stage of the Noël Coward Theatre from Tuesday 14th September 2015 (with previews beginning on Saturday 5th September 2015).
