It is clear that the Theatre Royal Haymarket is the place to be late in 2015 as the hit show Mr Foote’s Other Leg transfers to the venue following its successful run at the Hampstead Theatre.

The latter venue in North London has been the home of many productions that would become future West End hits, with musical Sunny Afternoon amongst them. 2015 continues this trend and in addition to Mr Foote’s Other Leg, audiences can also see Four Minutes Twelve Seconds when it runs at the Trafalgar Studios in November.

Penned by Ian Kelly, Mr Foote’s Other Leg focuses on the well known Georgian comedian Samuel Foote, who is known for an incident in 1766 in which he lost his leg and turned it into comedy gold. We focus on the man as his work has turned him into a target, with impressions and satire ensuring the press is on his back and the surgeon’s knife awaits. Exploring the concept of celebrity in another time, Mr Foote’s Other Leg offers a compelling insight into a familiar realm.

The show has a major asset behind it as Samuel Foote is portrayed by the acclaimed Simon Russell Beale. A big name in the capital, he has appeared in a wealth of shows on the stage and screen, ensuring a lasting legacy, and many of these shows have appeared on prestigious stages like the National Theatre and the Donmar Warehouse like London Assurance, King Lear and Temple, amongst others. His other credits include Privates On Parade at the Noël Coward Theatre, Spooks, Into The Woods and Penny Dreadful, to name but a few.

With Mr Foote’s Other Leg he appears alongside the show’s writer Ian Kelly, plus Dervla Kirwan, Joseph Millson, Micah Balfour, Jenny Galloway, Forbes Masson, Colin Stinton, Sophie Bleasdale and Joshua Elliot. It is directed by Richard Eyre.

Dervla Kirwan has also got many credits to her name including television series Ballykissangel, The Weir at the Donmar Warehouse and Aristocrats at the National Theatre.
Mr Foote’s Other Leg makes its anticipated appearance at the Theatre Royal Haymarket this autumn with a run beginning on Wednesday 4th November 2015 (previews from Wednesday 28th October 2015).
