When it comes to the iconic characters of Disney’s back catalogue, few are bigger than the legendary Mary Poppins, whose musical returns to London’s West End in 2019 with an unmissable run of performances at the Prince Edward Theatre.
As a show that has its origins in the book by P. L. Travers and the 1960s Disney film it is safe to say the story has been delighting audiences for decades and will only continue to draw in new generations of fans as the years progress. In 2019 this will happen in London’s West End as audiences of all ages are left speechless by the sets, the performances and the wonderful musical numbers.
Zizi Strallen plays Mary Poppins, the Nanny who can sing, perform magic and fly, all whilst taking other characters (and the audience!) on a memorable adventure. She enters the lives of the Banks children on the East Wind, ready to turn their whole world around alongside Bert the Chimney Sweep (Charlie Stemp) and further colourful characters.
And along the way, of course, we hear fantastic songs like Chim Chim Cher-ee, Practically Perfect, A Spoonful Of Sugar and the iconic Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, amongst an array of others.
So it is clear that Mary Poppins is the must-see theatre event of the year, with top talents like Zizi Strallen (Strictly Ballroom at the Piccadilly Theatre and Mary Poppins on tour) leading the way, audiences need look no further for a fantastic and memorable West End experience.
Mary Poppins makes its triumphant return to the West End when it opens at the Prince Edward Theatre on Wednesday 23rd October 2019.
