A world premiere comes to the Charing Cross Theatre this summer as Jill Santoriello, Jason Huza and Jeremiah James bring their new musical It Happened In Key West to London.

Despite workshops overseas, this will be the first time this comic musical has been seen in its finished form as an unusual love story plays out onstage involving an oddball scientist, a dying woman and an unwanted tuberculosis diagnosis. The result is sure to be one of the most memorable new musicals in some time!

The main character in It Happened In Key West is Count Carl Von Cosel, who has always yearned to meet the woman of his dreams, but is about to do so in completely the wrong set of circumstances. He meets her in 1930s Florida, but she has the misfortune of being diagnosed with tuberculosis and he has the misfortune of making the diagnosis (and discovering that she is married!) But despite this setbacks his love shines through and he attempts to keep her alive at any cost.

Based on a true story, It Happened In Key West comes to the UK under the direction of Marc Robin, who also directed the workshopped version at the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 2017. It also stars Wade McCollum as Count Carl Von Cosel and he brings years of experience to the role, from US touring show Ernest Shackleton Loves Me to Broadway smash hit Wicked.

It Happened In Key West opens its doors at London’s Charing Cross Theatre on Wednesday 4th July 2018.
