The summer of 2018 has seen another top film head to the stage in the form of Heathers: The Musical at The Other Palace. That show has proved such a success that it now makes its way to the West End, giving London theatregoers another chance to see Carrie Hope Fletcher live onstage.

Over the years we have enjoyed many such films-turned-stage-shows in the capital, from The Lion King to School Of Rock, but for the latest production headed to the Theatre Royal Haymarket creators have turned to a cult classic from the 1980s to produce this unmissable treat.

Originally a dark teen comedy starring the likes of Winona Ryder, Heathers now makes its way to the stage with Carrie Hope Fletcher in Ryder’s role and Andy Fickman directing. It is certain to be a must-see event this summer.

Carrie Hoper Fletcher plays Veronica Sawyer, a high school student who meets the bad boy sociopath in the form of J.D. and soon they are plotting revenge on the clique that she feels has wronged her. But this isn’t just a typical high school story as Heathers takes some dark turns during its run time.

This being a musical, the show also features some great songs that will amplify the narrative to new heights and add a new twist on this iconic story.

Those songs are the work of duo Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy, who both have experience penning some high profile stage shows and now provide London theatre audiences with an unforgettably twisted experience.

The film version of Heathers is rightly regarded in high esteem in the modern day, though it was not a success when it was first released in 1988 and it was a cult following that propelled it to its modern day legacy. Directed by Michael Lehmann it now has fans around the world and there is no doubt they will want to see the stage adaptation when it runs in London’s West End.

Heathers: The Musical makes its triumphant appearance at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from Monday 3rd September 2018.
