Matthew Warchus replaces Kevin Spacey as the Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theatre and as part of his inaugural season includes this new play from the renowned writer Tamsin Oglesby. Future Conditional focuses on the topic of the educational system and not only draws upon something that is familiar to audiences around the UK, will also showcase the acting talents of some new young performers.
Rob Brydon also appears in the production, adding to his list of impressive acting credits and working under the direction of Warchus himself.
Future Conditional introduces us to an array of characters, some young, some old, as the education system is explored through various eyes. Amongst them is Alia, a schoolgirl who has fled from Afghanistan and has great insights into the way the system can change. As she joins the Education Research Board, she has a radical idea that could finally make the improvements requires, but as a young voice she is going to struggle to be heard.
Matthew Warchus has been behind many of London’s top shows in recent years, including the monumentally successful Matilda The Musical, which started in Stratford-upon-Avon and now runs at the West End’s Cambridge Theatre. His other credits include Ghost The Musical, The Norman Conquests and the film Pride, plus many other West End shows that have made him well known amongst theatregoers.
In a year that also brings Dr Seuss’s The Lorax and The Hairy Ape to the stage, Future Conditional is introduced to the audiences of the Old Vic Theatre on Thursday 10th September 2015 (previews from Tuesday 1st September 2015).
